Synopsis:

The Two Codys is a 30-minute historical drama that reimagines a fateful encounter between two larger-than-life figures—Samuel Cody, the pioneering aviator, and Buffalo Bill Cody, the iconic Wild West showman.

The story begins in Norrisville, PA, 1889, as Samuel Cody marries Maud Marie Lee. Fresh from his wedding, Samuel reveals to Maud his bold plan to adopt the persona of Buffalo Bill’s son and join a traveling Wild West show in Europe. Despite her initial skepticism, Maud supports Samuel’s dream, and they embark on an adventure that brings them to the Legendary Silver Star Shooting Show.

Samuel’s charisma and shooting skills quickly earn him a place in the show, but the ruse is put to the test when he learns that the real Buffalo Bill is in town. Nervous but determined, Samuel decides to confront the legend himself, leading to an intense meeting inside Bill’s boxcar. The two men, standing face to face, share a charged conversation about identity, legacy, and the future of spectacle. Samuel reveals his true ambition—not just to imitate Buffalo Bill, but to become the "Wild Bill of the Skies," revolutionizing flight with his innovative kite designs.

Buffalo Bill, initially skeptical, sees a kindred spirit in Samuel and gives his reluctant blessing. Samuel’s dreams take flight—literally—as he conducts the test of his newest creation, the Cody Floatplane. Unbeknownst to the audience, this test flight will end in tragedy.

In a silent, black-and-white film sequence, the plane ascends gracefully before breaking apart mid-air, hurling Samuel and his passenger, cricketer William Evans, to their deaths.

On the ground, Buffalo Bill watches in horror, rushing to the scene, only to find the shattered remnants of his friend’s final dream. The film closes with a poignant reflection: What if these two legends had truly met?

The epilogue reveals the real dates of birth and death for both men, blending historical fact with the emotional resonance of this imagined friendship.

Themes:

- Legacy and Ambition: The film explores the tension between building a personal legacy and borrowing from an established one.

- The Price of Fame: Both Samuel and Buffalo Bill grapple with the sacrifices they’ve made to maintain their larger-than-life personas.

- Innovation vs. Tradition: Samuel’s vision of flight symbolizes the dawn of a new era, contrasting with Buffalo Bill’s romanticized past of the American West.
